Dr. Steve Simmons: 
Dr. Simmons is originally from San Diego, California & graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1993 with a B.S in Animal Physiology & Neuroscience.  He received his DVM from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998 & then went on to complete a rotating small animal internship at the University of Illinois, located in Champaign-Urbana.  From 1999 to 2006, Dr. Simmons practiced at a large veterinary practice located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Simmons has a large pet family of his own, which includes several dogs, cats, birds, and a ferret.  Dr. Simmons is also an avid bowler and is a member of a bowling league in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Dr. Simmons is a member of several professional associations including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the Palm Beach Veterinary Society & the Broward County Veterinary Medical Association.  Dr. Simmons' professional interests include internal medicine, oncology, dermatology & soft tissue surgery.   



Dr. Cindy Rigg:
Dr. Rigg grew up in a family of dogs, cats, rabbits, snakes, horses, cattle, pigs and a squirrel.  She attended the University of Chicago and received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Maryland.  In 1991, she proudly accepted her DVM degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  Upon graduation, she controlled the importation and spread of diseases while working for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). After deciding to return to private practice, she spent the next 14 years caring for animals in emergency rooms as well as in the daytime setting. While Dr Rigg had many dogs and other animals including a flock of sheep, her life is currently controlled by her two cats, Ian and Fiona.





Dr. Rene'  Varela
Dr. Rene' Varela is a Florida native, born in Miami Beach. He received his bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in biology, studying immunology from Florida Atlantic University.  His veterinary degree is from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine.  Post graduate training included two fellowships at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution Division of Marine Mammal Research & Conservation.  He has also performed doctoral degree training in comparative immunology and is currently completing a Masters degree in Public Health at Florida International University.  His work and presentations have taken him literally around the globe.  While he enjoys his work with marine mammals, Dr. Varela is really drawn toward working with pet animals and their human owners.

Dr. Varela is married to a fellow veterinarian and has an extended pet family of three dogs, two cats and eight fish.  He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Palm Beach Veterinary Society amongst other professional groups.  His professional interests include internal medicine, immunology/allergy, wildlife & exotic animal medicine.
